Independent Manufacturing Operations Consulting
Manufacturing Bottleneck Analysis for Component Manufacturers
Find what is slowing performance and focus on the changes that matter most. Todd Drummond independently reviews workflow, labor use, process delays, handoffs, and daily operating habits to help management see the issues affecting output, cost, capacity, and consistency.
When an operational review may help
When the Constraint Is Not Obvious
The visible problem is not always the limiting problem. An independent review can help management separate symptoms from the conditions that are restricting flow and making daily execution harder than it should be.
Recurring Delays
Work repeatedly waits between processes, departments, or decisions.
Uneven Production Flow
Output and workload vary without a shared understanding of the cause.
Unclear Labor Use
Staffing and productivity questions are difficult to evaluate with confidence.
Capacity Pressure
The operation feels constrained, but the most useful improvement priority is unclear.
Material-Flow Concerns
Layout, handoffs, equipment use, or material movement create avoidable friction.
Too Many Priorities
Management has a long improvement list but needs a clearer order of action.
What Todd may examine
See the Whole Operation More Clearly
The review follows the operational issue rather than forcing every manufacturer into the same checklist. As relevant to the engagement, Todd may examine:
- Workflow from one operating step or department to the next.
- Bottlenecks, process delays, and difficult handoffs.
- Labor use, daily operating habits, and available productivity information.
- Material flow, equipment use, facility layout, and production flow.
- Relevant scheduling, staffing, and capacity conditions.
- The effect of current processes on output, cost, and consistency.
What working together looks like
A Practical Path From Questions to Priorities
The engagement is shaped around the issue in front of you and the information needed to evaluate it.
Start With Your Operation
Discuss priorities, recurring challenges, current processes, and the information already available.
See the Process Clearly
Review relevant data and workflows through onsite observation, remote collaboration, or both as the engagement requires.
Turn Findings Into Action
Receive prioritized findings and practical next steps your management team can evaluate and put to work.
What the review is designed to provide
Clearer Priorities for Management
The purpose is not theory or an unnecessarily long list. It is to help management understand where to focus and what practical next steps deserve consideration.
- Prioritized findings tied to the operation being reviewed.
- Practical next steps management can evaluate and use.
- A whole-operation perspective rather than a one-department answer.
- Independent guidance grounded in component-manufacturing experience.
Client experience
A Manufacturer’s Perspective
“Todd helped us take a fresh look at how the different parts of the manufacturing process work, identified some bottlenecks, moved some equipment, and through that were able to streamline the flow of materials through the plant.”

Frequently asked questions
Before You Start
Is Bottleneck Analysis only for truss and wall-panel plants?
TDC’s deepest experience is in truss and wall-panel manufacturing, and Todd also works with offsite and other component manufacturers. The review is based on the operation and issue being evaluated.
Can the review be completed onsite or remotely?
Todd may use onsite observation, remote collaboration, or both as the engagement requires. The appropriate approach depends on the operational question and the information needed to evaluate it.
What information should we have available?
The starting conversation covers your priorities, recurring challenges, current processes, and the information already available. Todd can then help identify what is relevant to the review.
How is this different from equipment or facility planning?
Bottleneck Analysis focuses on what is constraining current performance and where management should focus. Equipment, Facility & Workflow Planning is aimed more directly at a new facility, expansion, major equipment purchase, or workflow redesign. Some operating questions may involve both.
What happens after issues are identified?
You receive prioritized findings and practical next steps your management team can evaluate and put to work. The specific follow-through depends on your operation, priorities, and the engagement.
Start with the operating question
What Is Slowing Your Operation?
Describe the recurring delay, capacity concern, workflow problem, or operating question you are trying to solve. Todd can help identify whether Bottleneck Analysis is the useful next step.
